Credit Analyst

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to join our hard money lending team. The Credit Analyst will be responsible for evaluating borrower creditworthiness, assessing risk on real estate investment deals (primarily short-term fix-and-flip and bridge loans), and supporting underwriting decisions to ensure profitable and secure loan origination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze borrower credit reports, income documentation, bank statements, and asset profiles to assess creditworthiness

• Evaluate property values using appraisal reports, BPOs, and market comps

• Review loan applications and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy

• Work closely with underwriters and loan officers to identify deal strengths and weaknesses

• Assist in determining appropriate loan terms based on risk analysis and company guidelines

• Monitor portfolio performance and flag potential risks in active loans

• Communicate with real estate investors, brokers, and internal stakeholders regarding required documentation and deal status

• Maintain and update financial models and internal credit memos for each loan file

• Stay informed about local real estate market trends and regulations impacting lending risk

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field

• 1–3 years of experience in credit analysis, mortgage lending, or hard money/private lending preferred

• Strong understanding of real estate investment strategies (e.g., fix-and-flip, buy-and-hold, BRRRR)

• Familiarity with FICO scoring, DTI ratios, LTV, ARV, and DSCR metrics

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and financial modeling tools

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with commercial or residential real estate underwriting

• Understanding of title, insurance, and escrow documentation

• Knowledge of loan servicing or asset management processes
